Lake Mývatn The lake Mývatn (in English: lake of midges) got its name from the myriad of midges which paint the beach black at certain seasons. But do not afraid them: they do not bite but are interested in the inner of your nose, mouth, ears and eyes. So it could be a good idea to use a mosquito net over the head.
