Hveragerði
Images from my way back from Geysir over Hveragerði to
Reykjavík at 7. February 2003.
Once I was sitting in the public service vehicle the weather
changed immediately and there as a beautiful light upon the
snowy landscape. The driver was so kind to drop me of for some
minutes near Skalholt while he did his usual service.
The shcedule would have force me to wait for one hour in
Selfoss which would be a shame. I originally planed
to stay until the evening in Hveragerði, but this plan was
destroyed because I had to visit a computer caffe to fix a problem
in my institute. So I was seeking for a solution to just
have a quick view to the hot spring area of Hveragerði.
I decided to ask a friendly woman if she would like to give me
a lift. She accepted very kindly and so I won one hour - and
a much more comfortable trip than inside the bus because it was
quite fun to talk with the driver. In general I have to say that
talking to people in Iceland in winter time is very interesting
because they are much more open than in summer when many tourists
flood the whole island.
Moreover I've got some help inside the tourist office of Hveragerði.
I just hope that Davið Samúelsson who works as staff there
and is a friend of my driver could give me some contact ...
